Bio
An accountant in my 40’s and relative late comer to motorcycling, I got my license and first motorbike in 2006 when still living in my home country of Australia, although I did have a 50cc scooter some years earlier. A move to the UK in 2007 opened my eyes to the endless possibilities of motorcycle touring and I’ve owned big touring bikes ever since. My first tour to the continent in the Spring of 2008 was as part of an organised group to France and Belgium. My first time riding in a non-English speaking country on the right side of the road and I was terrified.
I’ve made many trips to Europe since, both with tour groups and more recently independently. My Summer 2011 tour was an independent journey to eastern Turkey, covering 11,000 miles in 10 weeks through 21 countries.
It was on the Turkey trip that I embraced the potential of technology to enhance my motorcycle touring experiences, simplifying research, planning and preparation and allowing me to spend more time on the road visiting far away destinations.
