Facebook, Twitter, Website and now an Andorid App ….. Maria Costello, the fastest woman around the Isle of Man TT for five years, gives us a great example of what is possible with technology and the new media of social networking.  Queen of Bikers sure, but Queen of Tech also I say!

Truth is, I’d not known of Maria before today.  But a Tweet arrived courtesy of @suziperry announcing Maria’s new Android based app, Costello Racing.

So I checked it out and downloaded it.  Looks good too, and best of all it is free.  It allows her fans to follow her blog, racing/events calendar for the year plus some biographical information and links to her sponsors websites.

This is an appealing app, providing most of the information available on Maria’s website (www.costelloracing.com/). It is extremely well laid out and very simple to use.  Recent research has shown a dramatic shift toward mobile web use and based on the current rate of change and adoption, it is predicted the mobile web will be bigger than desktop Internet use by 2015.

Apps like Costello Racing are embracing this trend.  Viewing Maria’s blog and other information was far simpler using the app than trying to achieve the same via a mobile web browser.  I think we will see more apps providing a far more satisfying mobile browsing experience from our favourite bloggers in the future.

So now I’ll following Maria’s exploits both on Twitter (@MariaCostello) and checking out her blog via the app.

Based on this brief introduction, it seems there is plenty to like about Maria.

I might even grab a copy of her autobiography “Queen of Bikers” to learn more about “the most prominent female rider in British motorbike racing”.  I wonder if it’s available for download from the Kindle Store?

So why not download the app and check out what motorcycle racing is all about from a female’s point of view?

Great stuff from the Queen of Bikers and Tech!
